On the 10th of May, Rutland based Efficient Portfolio turned the big ‘1-0’. According to Forbes, only around 1/3 of businesses make it to their 10th birthday, so it’s great news when one of our fellow financial planning businesses reaches this milestone.
The company’s founder, Charlie Reading APFS, says “I’ve helped many people save for, manage and enjoy their retirement, but ultimately what I’m truly passionate about is enabling people to build a better life, rooted in health and happiness.”
With his clear raison d’être, it’s no surprise that when Charlie penned his first book in 2015, his subject focused on helping people to create a happier, healthier and wealthier future.
Reading says, “My book, ‘The Dream Retirement: How to Secure your Money and Retire Happy’ was born out of what I perceived to be a desperate need in this country. So many of us are living for longer and longer, yet as a nation we are so bad at retirement. With many of us spending in excess of 25 years retirees, it should be a time of happiness, new adventures and enjoying the fruits of our labour. Sadly, this is often not the case. So, I wanted to start a retirement revolution and make our later years the best years yet!”
And to start this revolution, and to celebrate their birthday, Charlie gave away his book for free to those who would benefit the most. Charlie and his team are also organising a charity ball on 12th November at the newly refurbished function suite at The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham. There will be live music, a wonderful 3 course meal, and a few surprises to boot, with the money raised going to ‘In Rutland for Rutland’ and UNICEF.
